Nuoyan needed an operation video that made a home beauty device feel professional without turning clinical. The brief asked for bright interiors, a female model demonstrating real use, and an image of gentle, reliable tech skincare for women aged 25 to 40 who follow skin management. We chose a high-key direction: a floor-to-ceiling window with sheer curtains, natural daylight, the model’s smile and lace cuff details carrying warmth, and the device itself as the visual anchor of every setup.

Creative Concept
Beauty device purchases run on two beliefs: the results are real, and the operation is simple. So the strategy paired a bright, professional space with model warmth instead of cold tech styling. A floor-to-ceiling window and sheer curtains give the room credibility, the model’s smile and lace cuffs soften it, and the device sits naturally inside the frame as the focus. The message a 25 to 40 year old viewer should take home: professional-grade skincare is something she can do at home, on her own, without a learning curve.
Production
We shot on the Sony A7M4 with the FE 85mm F1.4 GM on a Ronin RS3 gimbal, recording 4K at 25fps. The 85mm focal length keeps the device and the model’s hands proportionally honest while throwing the bright window background soft. Lighting was high-key: an Aputure 300D II through a softbox supplementing natural window light, exposure pushed one stop, color temperature fixed at 5600K, CRI above 97 so skin and product finishes read clean. Each action beat, holding the device, smiling to camera, simulating the use flow, ran three to five takes so we could keep the most relaxed performance. Post ran through Premiere Pro for the edit, DaVinci Resolve for the grade, and After Effects for motion graphics.
Production Challenges
1. High-key lighting kept blowing out either the device screen or facial detail. We cut incoming light with an ND filter instead of closing exposure down globally, then split the grade in DaVinci Resolve by region: pull background highlights down, lift facial shadows, and hold the device screen readable. No single exposure setting could serve all three at once.
2. A scripted smile looks exactly like a scripted smile. The director kept conversation running between takes and caught unposed smiles instead of requesting them. Single expressions ran five to eight takes, and we selected the frames where the model had genuinely relaxed. The performance goal was a real user, not a presenter.
3. The device’s cables and probe cluttered the frame. Before rolling, we planned cable routing and taped lines out of sight. Remaining stray ends were cleaned in post so the frame stayed tidy. Small hardware hygiene like this decides whether a beauty device reads as a precision instrument or a tangled appliance.

Where the Film Lives
The horizontal master sits at the top of Nuoyan’s e-commerce flagship detail pages, on the brand website product page, on screens inside offline experience stores, and on LED walls at beauty trade shows. The vertical cutdowns run as Douyin feed ads, pinned posts on the brand’s Xiaohongshu account, WeChat Channels promotion, and Moments ads. We also pulled key frames from the master for detail-page selling-point graphics and social posters, so stills and video share one visual system.
a beauty device video lives or dies on trust plus warmth; too technical reads cold, too casual reads amateur. Keep the model’s face and the device screen in the same exposure conversation, or one of them lies. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a beauty device operation video take?
This project ran 7 business days: 2 for script confirmation, 1 studio shoot day, and 4 for edit and grade. Rush scheduling can compress delivery to 4 business days; confirm availability with our team before booking.
How much does a beauty device video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video, and a multi-deliverable scope like this one, a 4 minute 38 second master plus 60 and 30 second cutdowns, is quoted from your brief. Share the product and platform list, and we return a line-item estimate.
What should the client provide for a beauty device shoot?
Send two to three units of the device so we can pick the best-looking one, plus a selling-point list, brand VI guidelines, and the operation manual. Charge and test units beforehand, screens free of scratches. Gels or dedicated accessories should come along too.
Who writes the script, and how many revisions are included?
Our planning team writes the first draft, and two feedback rounds are included at no charge. From the third round, fees depend on revision scale. Confirm operation steps and selling-point order at script stage; reshooting after the edit is the expensive way to fix a script.
Can you shoot in a location we specify?
Yes. Beyond the studio we shoot real locations such as beauty salons, clinics, or a home bedroom, subject to site permission and light conditions. Location work bills travel and venue costs as incurred. We scout three days ahead to lock camera and light positions.
Why shoot high-key for a beauty device?
The target viewer wants professional results without a clinic’s coldness. High-key daylight from a large window reads clean and credible, while the model’s warmth keeps it approachable. The discipline is exposure control: bright without blowing out the face or the device screen.
Can the video show the actual operation steps?
That is the point of an operation video. We rehearse each action beat, holding, applying, mode switching, and shoot three to five takes per beat so the clearest demonstration survives. On-screen captions can mark steps where the manual language needs support.
Which platforms do the delivered versions cover?
The 16:9 master serves e-commerce detail pages, the brand website, in-store screens, and trade show LED walls. The 9:16 vertical cutdowns fit Douyin feed ads, Xiaohongshu, and WeChat Channels. Key frames double as detail-page graphics and social posters.
How do you keep on-camera performance natural?
We direct through conversation, not poses. The director chats with the model between setups and rolls through unguarded moments, running five to eight takes of a single expression and keeping the most relaxed one. Viewers of beauty content spot a forced smile immediately.
