Dual USB Car Charger Automotive Photography

The client is a car accessories brand selling on Amazon. We photographed its dual-port USB car charger installed and in use inside a modern vehicle interior set, covering the champagne-gold and black variants. The two images show the charger seated in the 12V socket and connected to a generic smartphone through a blue braided cable. The deliverables include a full commercial license for online retail use.

Photography Challenges

1. Reflective metal on piano black. The champagne-gold aluminum body and glossy black console both pick up studio reflections. We used soft, diffused lighting and black flags to shape smooth gradients on the metal while keeping the console dark and clean.

2. Separating the black variant. A black charger on a dark interior can merge into the shadows. We preserved the darker interior mood and added controlled accent light so the charger body, silver trim ring, and ports remain readable.

3. Shallow focus in a tight space. The console buttons, chrome-ringed cup holder, and steering wheel could compete with the charger. We used a fast prime lens with shallow depth of field to keep the product sharp while letting the background controls fall off.

4. Showing use without brand distraction. The use-case image required a cable and phone, but the phone is only a prop. We kept it generic and directed attention to the plugged-in cable, port, and charger rather than any device branding.

Our Approach

In-car set and styling

We built the shots around the vehicle interior set, using the piano-black center console, AUTO and SYNC buttons, chrome-ringed cup holder, and leather steering wheel as context. Props were limited to the blue braided USB cable and a generic smartphone so the charger remained the subject.

Lighting for metal and dark trim

Soft diffused light created smooth gradients across the brushed champagne-gold body, while flags reduced hot spots on the glossy console. For the black variant, we kept a darker interior mood and added just enough accent light to define the port, cable, and trim.

Retouching and Delivery

Retouching focused on reflection control, exposure balance, and cleanup of dust or console highlights without altering the product. Files were prepared for Amazon image slots and A+ Content, exported at 2000x2000px sRGB as JPEG quality 90 plus WebP, with a full commercial license.
