AIMI Visual Media photographed this champagne-gold dashboard perfume diffuser at its Guangzhou studio for a car accessories seller. The 6-image set pairs white-background construction shots, including uncapped pump and reservoir views, with an installed dashboard scene at shallow depth of field.

A dashboard perfume is judged as an object before it is judged as a fragrance: it sits in sight of the driver every day, so the metal has to read as metal and the build has to survive a zoom. This car accessories seller needed both proven. We delivered 6 frames from AIMI Visual Media's 3,000 m² studio in Guangzhou: five studio studies of the champagne-gold shell and its amber reservoir window, two of them uncapped to show the pump, plus one installed dashboard scene.

Photography Challenges
1. Curved gold metal shows every lighting mistake. The pebble-shaped shell has no flat face, so every light source prints its own shape onto the surface: a hard light becomes a white streak, a small softbox becomes a hot oval. The fix is gradient control, using large softboxes feathered so the highlight travels in one smooth sweep along the curve. Gold adds a color trap on top: warm white balance pushes it toward cheap yellow, so balance was kept neutral and the champagne tone was verified against the physical unit.
2. Three materials want three different exposures. The polished shell is specular, the amber window is transmissive, and the anti-slip pad is matte black and eats light. One exposure can't serve all three: set for the metal and the amber goes muddy; set for the amber and the metal clips. Exposure was anchored on the shell's gradient, the amber panel got a dedicated fill so the reservoir reads as liquid, and the pad was allowed to stay dark, which is how it looks in a real car.
3. Luxury is proven by what's inside. Any factory can gold-plate a shell, so buyers of premium diffusers look for the mechanism: pump, dip tube, reservoir. A capped beauty shot proves none of it. Frames 3 and 5 were shot uncapped with the cap placed beside the unit, turning the product inside out for the camera and answering the construction questions a listing description can't.
4. The installed scene must not look like the studio frames. Put the same hard-proof studio look onto a real dashboard and the product reads as pasted in. Frame 6 went the other way: the diffuser on its perforated pad, shot at dashboard eye level with shallow depth of field, so the greenery outside melts and the gold form holds the frame. The buyer gets context without losing the product.
Our Approach
White Background Product Shots
Five frames were built on a white sweep with large softboxes at front and upper-left, sized so their reflections fall as broad gradients on the curved shell. The elevated three-quarter angle became the hero because it shows the pebble form, the raised cap, and the amber window in one read. Everything ran on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV; white balance stayed neutral so champagne gold photographs as champagne, not yellow. The uncapped frames, pump actuator and dip tube visible, cap placed beside the body, were staged deliberately as construction proofs for zoom-happy buyers.
Installed Dashboard Scene
Frame 6 moved the product onto a real dashboard on its perforated anti-slip pad, the accessory that ships in the box and grounds the object in context. Shot at dashboard eye level with a wide aperture, the exterior greenery blurs into a soft wash while the gold form stays critical. The shallow depth of field is doing sales work: it tells the buyer where the product lives without letting the car compete with it.
Post-Production & Retouching
Polished gold records every fingerprint and dust speck, so each frame went through a full surface cleanup at high magnification. Color work stayed conservative: the champagne tone was matched to the physical unit rather than warmed up for prettiness, and the amber window kept its translucency instead of being deepened into syrup. Highlights on the shell were left where the lights put them, because a retouched gradient always looks like plastic. Masters delivered at full 30.4-megapixel resolution.
"Gold is a color you light, not a color you edit: get the gradient right in the studio and the metal does the selling." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I budget for a perfume diffuser shoot?
White-background frames start at $12 per image under Essential, and styled scenes like the installed dashboard shot start at $35 per image under Growth. A 6-image mixed set like this one starts around $95. All rates are starting prices; the final quote follows your SKU count and scene list.
How fast can you deliver a 6-image set?
Standard delivery is 5-7 business days from product arrival at our Guangzhou studio. Reflective metal products need their gradient lighting solved before the first frame, and that calibration is built into the schedule.
Can you shoot the diffuser installed on a dashboard?
Yes. Frame 6 of this set is exactly that: the unit on its anti-slip pad at dashboard eye level, shot at a wide aperture so the background melts and the product holds. Installed scenes are quoted as styled images under the Growth tier.
How do you keep gold from looking yellow in photos?
Neutral white balance plus gradient control. We don't let auto balance warm the metal, and we match the champagne tone to the physical unit in post. The broad softbox gradients give the surface its premium read without any color cheating.
Can you show the reservoir and pump mechanism?
That's what the uncapped frames are for: cap off and placed beside the unit, pump actuator and dip tube visible, amber reservoir window readable. Buyers of premium diffusers look for exactly these construction details, and the photos answer them at full zoom.
Will included accessories appear in the set?
Yes. The anti-slip dashboard pad appears in two frames of this set, once in the studio layout and once in the installed scene. Box contents are documented as part of the shoot plan, so nothing a buyer receives goes unphotographed.
