Cream Eyeshadow Stick Collection — Neutral Palette Range Shot

Challenge: A cosmetics brand needed to showcase their full range of cream eyeshadow sticks in a single hero image that clearly communicated each shade's true color while maintaining a cohesive, editorial feel. The black matte tubes with gold branding required careful lighting to avoid losing detail in the dark packaging.

Approach: We arranged the eight sticks in a diagonal formation from lower-left to upper-right, creating natural visual flow that guides the viewer through the entire shade range — from pearl shimmer through rose and mauve to deep chocolate. Each stick was uncapped to reveal the cream tip, with a corresponding swatch applied directly below to demonstrate texture and pigmentation.

Lighting & Composition: A large overhead softbox provided even base illumination across the white surface, while a focused accent light at a low angle caught the gold embossed text on each tube. The diagonal layout prevented the cylindrical products from casting shadows onto each other, keeping every shade clearly visible and individually distinguishable.

Results: Two final images delivered — one full-range hero and one detail crop. The clean editorial approach gave the brand versatile assets suitable for both their e-commerce storefront and Instagram grid, where the diagonal composition creates strong visual impact even at thumbnail size.

Photography Insight: When photographing product ranges with color swatches, always shoot under a consistent 5500K daylight-balanced source and include a color checker card in your reference frame. Even slight warmth shifts can make a mauve read as pink, misleading customers and increasing return rates.
