Cream Eyeshadow Stick Product Photography

The product is a jumbo twist-up cream eyeshadow crayon in a matte black barrel with gold print, sold in three shades: bright white, deep taupe and shimmery rose. Cream formulas are bought on texture and shade payoff, so both frames were built around direct proof: smudged swatches of the actual product laid beside each crayon tip. The 2 flat lays were shot overhead at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China on a seamless white surface.

Photography Challenges

1. A cream crayon is bought on texture, and texture cannot be claimed, only shown. A shopper cannot feel a cream formula through a screen, and a bare product shot says nothing about glide or payoff. We smudged a swatch of each shade directly on the shooting surface next to its crayon, so the creaminess and pigment load are visible in the same frame as the product.

2. Black barrels with gold print need two exposures in one light. Matte black plastic eats light while the metallic gold print flares; one setting kills one of them. The key softbox runs at a raking angle so the barrel keeps a soft edge gradient, and the gold lettering catches a clean highlight without blowing out.

3. Nine sticks in a fan either line up or look thrown down. A nine-unit diagonal fan has no tolerance for random gaps: one stick off-angle reads as clutter at thumbnail size. Each crayon was set with measured spacing on the same diagonal, tips aligned, so the shade trio reads as an organized set.

4. Shimmer shades must sparkle without looking like noise. The rose shimmer shade turns into gray grit under hard light and goes flat under soft light. A medium softbox with a slow gradient keeps the shimmer particles readable as shimmer, not sensor noise.

Frame 1 fans all 9 sticks across the white surface in a measured diagonal, three units per shade, each tip paired with its smudged swatch. The overhead camera at 90 degrees keeps the fan geometry exact, and the soft top light keeps every barrel readable end to end.

Frame 2 tightens to one unit per shade with larger swatches: white for highlight, taupe for contour, shimmer rose for the lid. Bigger swatch strokes show the formula's smudge behavior, which is the buying question for a multi-use crayon.

Post-production and delivery.

Retouching cleaned dust from the black barrels (matte black shows every particle at this size), kept the three shade swatches true to the physical crayons, and locked both frames to the same 255 white. Delivered as 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.
