Two aromatherapy carrier oils documented front and back: amber Boston bottles glowing with transmitted light on the label side, and information-side frames where ingredients, usage and license text stay perfectly readable at full size for buyers and distributors alike everywhere. More work from this category lives in our cosmetics photography portfolio.

Carrier oil buyers read labels like pharmacists: purity, usage, license. This session paired the two faces of trust for grapeseed and jojoba SKUs: the front-label portrait with the amber glass glowing warm, and the back-label frame where every line of regulatory print survives scrutiny.

Photography Challenges

1. Amber glass that glows without lying. The bottle should radiate warm orange down its center while the edges stay dark. That gradient is glass physics; fake it with post and the label stops matching the bottle.

2. Cream paper labels under transmitted light. The backlight that wakes the glass also creeps into the paper label and washes its print. Label and glow need separate exposure territories.

3. Regulatory text on the back panel. Ingredients, licenses and warnings sit in small print on a colored band. Soft beauty light turns them to mush; hard light kills the bottle's mood.

Our Approach

Real transmitted glow

A hidden rear source fires through the bottle body while flags cut it from the label zone. The amber center ignites, edges stay dark, and the paper label is lit by its own soft front source. Nothing is painted in later.

Front/back pairing on one jig

Each SKU was shot front and back on the same marked position with identical camera height, so the pair flips on a listing page with zero geometry shift. Only the bottle rotates.

Back-panel detail pass

The information frames add a hard, low fill raking across the label to raise text micro-contrast, blended with the soft base exposure. License numbers and ingredient lists stay legible at full resolution.

"An oil bottle is a lantern waiting for its light. Give it real transmitted glow and honest label light, and trust follows automatically." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make amber bottles glow?

With a real rear source firing through the glass, flagged away from the label. The gradient from bright center to dark edges is physics, and it is the single cheapest premium effect in bottle photography.

Can you keep back-label text readable?

Yes. We add a raking detail pass for text micro-contrast and blend it with the base exposure, so ingredients, licenses and warnings survive full-resolution inspection.

Do front and back shots match for listing carousels?

They are built to. Same marked position, same camera height, only the bottle rotates, so flipping between front and back shows zero geometry shift.

Oils and tinctures that need to glow and inform at once?

Send the SKUs. We will light the glass honestly, document both labels, and deliver pairs that flip clean in any carousel.
