The client is L'QUALYN, a skincare brand selling a two-step blackhead nose care kit: a Step 01 amygdalin (almond acid) export sticker that loosens blackheads, and a Step 03 witch hazel pore shrinkage sticker that calms and tightens after extraction, six treatments per box. They wanted creative frames that sell the science-backed positioning without losing the clean, gentle feel of the packaging. Everything was shot at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China across two lighting builds: a bright clinical mint setup and a dark premium emerald setup.

Photography Challenges

1. Two moods, one truth. The mint build is bright and clinical; the emerald build is dark and premium. If the white packaging reads cooler in one and warmer in the other, the campaign stops looking like one product. Both builds were calibrated to the same X-Rite target and matched in post, so the box is the same box in all 6 frames.

2. Glass on glass on gloss. Lab glassware, glossy white acrylic and glossy box faces all mirror the studio at once, and every fingerprint or dust spot on a flask shows at ten times on the final frame. We polished every piece of glassware between compositions and flagged the softboxes so reflections stay as single clean streaks on the curved glass.

3. A white box inside a dark room. In the emerald setup the easy failure is clipping the white packaging while chasing a deep background. We exposed for the box and protected the green with black flags and negative fill, so the background stays rich while the box keeps clean, legible highlights.

4. Keeping a top-down frame from going flat. Overhead compositions flatten fast: everything sits on one plane and the frame dies. The flat-lay frame uses tiered plinth heights, a diagonal white-to-mint split and soft dappled shadow bands, so the eye travels through the set instead of landing on a poster.

Our Approach

Two lighting builds, one calibration.

The mint build uses a large softbox key with fill cards for soft, even, clinical light that matches the gentle formula story. The emerald build switches to a directional key with black flags and negative fill for long soft shadows and contrast that reads premium. Both were set to the same X-Rite target before the first frame of each build, which is what makes the two moods cut together as one campaign.

Lab-glass staging with discipline.

The props are real borosilicate lab glassware: volumetric flask, measuring cylinder, petri dishes, test tubes and an erlenmeyer flask with a stirring rod. They sell the science-backed claim, but only if they are spotless, so every piece was washed and polished between setups. The kit's own black comedone swabs appear in frame as product evidence, not decoration.

Post-production and delivery.

Packaging color was matched to the physical box under the calibration reference, never to a number judged on screen. Glass dust spots and lint were cleaned frame by frame, and the emerald frames got contrast grading that keeps the whites honest. Final delivery: high-resolution 300DPI JPG plus web formats.

"Two moods, one product: if the white box reads differently under mint than under emerald, the set failed. Calibrate once, then trust the target." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a lab-style creative set like this cost?

Creative scene images start at $35 per image under our Growth package, so this 6-frame set runs about $210 including the dual-mood lighting builds and lab glassware props. White-background listing frames start at $12 under our Essential package. All rates are starting prices; the final quote depends on your requirements.

How long does a dual-mood product session take?

This set was delivered in 6 business days, inside our standard 5-7 business day window. Two lighting builds on one calibrated target keep the extra mood setup to hours, not days.

Can you shoot two different moods in one session?

Yes. This set pairs a bright mint high-key build for the clinical look with a dark emerald low-key build for the premium look, both calibrated to the same X-Rite target so the packaging reads identically across all 6 frames.

How do you keep white packaging from blowing out in a dark setup?

We expose for the packaging and protect the background with black flags and negative fill, so the emerald stays deep and rich while the white box keeps clean, legible highlights. No clipped whites in any of the dark frames.

Do you source props like the lab glassware?

Yes, prop sourcing is part of creative scene work. This set uses real borosilicate lab glassware: volumetric flask, measuring cylinder, petri dishes, test tubes and an erlenmeyer flask, each polished between compositions because fingerprints show at ten times on glass.

Are these frames usable as Amazon main images?

Amazon's main image must show the product alone on pure white, so these creative frames are built for secondary slots and A+ Content. Compliant pure-white mains can be added on the same set from $12 per image.

What usage rights come with the final images?

Every frame includes a full commercial license for all channels, with no ongoing royalty fees.
