The client is a skincare brand launching a hemp-infused line: glass serum ampoules (one a two-phase formula with a mixing bead), a hemp leaf sheet mask, a pale sage squeeze tube and a gold embossed compact. They needed one model, one white high-key set and five poses that show each product at its point of use, with the dewy, healthy skin that sells a soothing formula. Everything was shot at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China in a single session day.

Photography Challenges
1. Five products, one face, one consistent session. Each product needs its own pose, but the lighting, white balance and background must not drift between swaps, or the line stops reading as one campaign. The lighting build and camera position stayed locked all day; the only things that moved were the product and the model's hand.
2. Glass, gold and foil in one set. The serum ampoules are clear glass, the compact is a gold mirror, and the mask sachet is matte foil; each one handles reflections differently. Softbox positions were flagged per product and a polarizer kept the glass and gold as clean gradients, with no studio hardware printed on any package.
3. Dewy skin without plastic skin. A soothing-formula product dies if the model's skin looks over-blurred, because the buyer stops believing the result. Frequency separation evened her tone while keeping real texture, and dodge and burn rebuilt cheekbone depth that the soft key had flattened.
4. White on white on white. A white camisole, white packaging and a white sweep are the same tone family, and flat light fuses them into one shape. The fill-to-rim ratio was tuned so her shoulder line, the ampoule edges and the tube all keep their own outlines against the bright background.
Our Approach
One locked high-key build.
The key is a 2m octabox for soft, wrapping beauty light, with fill reflectors opening the shadows and a subtle rim separating her from the white sweep. We shot on the 85mm f/1.4L at f/8, ISO 100, 1/125s, so her face and the product in her hand stay sharp together at portrait distance while the focal length keeps facial proportions true.
Posing at the point of use.
Each product got an application-area pose instead of a generic hold: the soothing essence ampoule lifts to her cheek, the two-phase ampoule presses the jawline where serum goes first, the mask sachet rests at the shoulder, the tube touches the temple, and the gold compact is cupped near her face. A shopper reads the use from the pose alone, with no caption needed.
Retouching and delivery.
Skin went through frequency separation with dodge and burn for contour. Packaging color was calibrated to the physical products, including the two-phase serum's golden and milky layers and its tiny mixing bead, which had to stay visible and accurate. Stray hairs and minor makeup smudges were cleaned frame by frame. Final delivery: high-resolution 300DPI JPG plus web formats.
