An audio accessories brand selling on Amazon and Shopify needed close-up proof of its aftermarket IEM upgrade cable quality. We photographed the two-pin connectors, 3.5mm terminations, female jacks, and 4.4mm balanced plug to show gold plating, diamond knurling, anodized caps, and braided conductors. The four macro frames were delivered with a full commercial license for use across product listings and marketing.

Photography Challenges
1. Reflective metal control. Gold-plated pins, silver barrels, and diamond-knurled plugs create hot spots under direct light. We used diffused angled light and watched the edge reflections so the plating reads as gold without blowing out the contact surfaces.
2. Macro depth of field. At close working distances, only a narrow slice of a connector can stay sharp. We placed the sharpest plane on the pins, plug tip, or L mark and kept the cable twist as a softer supporting element.
3. Connector variation without clutter. The set includes 3.5mm TRS, TRRS, female jacks with colored caps, and a 4.4mm balanced plug. We separated them by frame and used simple rows or diagonal lines so buyers can compare terminations quickly.
4. Cable shape and separation. Orange and clear litz or braided conductors can look messy if allowed to twist randomly. We shaped each wire into a controlled loop or diagonal path and used gray felt to make the orange and silver tones separate cleanly.
Our Approach
Macro connector hierarchy.
Each frame leads with the functional metal part a buyer cares about: pins, plug contacts, knurled barrels, or anodized caps. The cable itself is arranged as a secondary path guiding the eye to that detail.
Neutral staging with texture contrast.
Gray felt gives a consistent, non-distracting surface across the set, while gray slate and pumice add controlled texture without introducing color. That neutral field makes the orange conductors, silver braid, and gold plating read accurately.
Retouching and Delivery.
We matched exposure and white balance across all four frames, removed dust and stray fibers, and exported 2000x2000px sRGB JPEG and WebP files. The macro set is ready for Amazon image slots and A+ Content comparison sections, with a full commercial license.
"The smallest selling point is often the one a buyer zooms in on, so light the metal before you light the whole cable." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
How much did this cable photography project cost?
The 4 macro detail images were billed as styled product scenes at $35 per image, for a total of $140. Orders of 10+ SKUs receive 10% off, and 30+ SKUs receive 15% off.
What is the turnaround time?
This set was delivered in 5 business days. Our standard turnaround is 5-7 business days depending on set complexity and retouching volume.
Are the images compliant with Amazon requirements?
Yes. Files are delivered at 2000x2000px in sRGB as JPEG quality 90 plus WebP. They are suitable for Amazon detail slots and A+ Content; if a main image is needed, we can also supply it on a pure white background.
What technique makes small connector details look clear?
We used macro framing with shallow depth of field and angled diffused light. The sharp plane lands on the gold-plated contacts, diamond knurling, or colored end caps so buyers can inspect the construction by zooming in.
How do I send products for a Guangzhou shoot?
Ship the earphone upgrade cable samples directly to our Guangzhou studio, or coordinate delivery through your factory. For remote clients, we work from a shot list and can share setup images or video review before final capture.
Can I order more cable variants later with the same look?
Yes. We keep the gray felt staging, lighting approach, and styling notes on file. Additional termination types or future cable colors can then be added while matching the existing four images.
