The client, a home & living e-commerce brand selling an unbranded OEM line of wall-mounted bathroom and vanity mirrors, needed a cohesive set of images for Amazon listings, Shopify product pages, and A+ content that positioned the full mirror range as a coordinated decor collection rather than generic glass hardware. We delivered 6 fully retouched styled scene shots, color-graded to one consistent neutral-cool tone, with a full commercial license for all sales and marketing use.

Photography Challenges

1. Reflection control without visible gear. Highly reflective mirror glass catches every studio light, camera, crew member, and stray mark in the room. Even a slight shift in angle can put a softbox dead center in the frame, which reads as an obvious, unconvincing flaw to shoppers browsing vanity mirrors.

2. Black frame separation on charcoal walls. The collection's thin matte black frames sit directly against a matte charcoal gray set wall, so low contrast can make edges disappear entirely, distorting the mirror's true shape and thin profile that is a core selling point for the line.

3. Mixed material highlight control. A single scene includes matte black metal, chrome faucet and legs, white lacquer vanity, exposed glass bulbs, light wood stool tops, and mirror glass. Each material catches light differently; overexposed chrome or washed-out white lacquer makes the whole set look cheap, while too-dim blacks read as muddy.

4. Consistent look across five distinct mirror designs. The line includes a round strap-hung style, a flush round design, vertical and horizontal rounded rectangles, and an asymmetric ring-detail design. Each mounts differently, so uneven lighting or slightly off framing between shots would make the collection feel disjointed rather than coordinated.

Our Approach

Purpose-Built Bathroom Set for Context-Driven Sales

We work on a purpose-built modern bathroom set for this shoot, with a matte charcoal gray wall, white floating vanity, wall-mounted chrome faucet, black Edison pendant lamps, light wood cross-leg stools, and minimal neutral props, because customers shop for wall mirrors as permanent bathroom decor, not isolated sheets of glass. We shot all frames on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with 35-50mm focal lengths at f/8–f/11, ISO 100, to keep deep depth of field across every element of the scene, with 1:1 near-square framing optimized for Amazon and Shopify product grids.

Controlled Lighting and Staged Reflections

We used two large 2x3m soft diffused studio sources positioned 45 degrees off-camera, flagged to avoid direct throw onto the mirror glass, with white balance locked to 5200K to keep the charcoal wall neutral and whites crisp without warm color cast. We angled the camera 2 degrees off perpendicular to each mirror to bounce light reflections away from the lens, then deliberately styled every visible reflection: folded blue towels, a partial door opening, and neutral toiletries, with no crew, camera or light stands readable at delivery size. We checked every frame tethered at 100% zoom between shots to catch stray reflections before moving set pieces.

Consistent Series Grading and Precision Retouching

We kept the set, prop placement, and light position identical across all four mirror shapes, adjusting only the mount height and pendant lamp spacing to match each mirror's dimensions, so the full collection reads as a coordinated line at a glance. We corrected all vertical perspective distortion to keep frames perfectly straight, removed every smudge, fingerprint, and dust speck from mirror glass at 200% zoom, and applied one master neutral-cool color grade across all 6 images to eliminate white balance shifts between shots. Final files were exported at 2000x2000px sRGB in both JPEG and WebP formats.

"You don't just light a mirror—you light everything that's going to show up in it, and you plan that reflection before you even mount the first frame." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a styled mirror or home goods product shoot cost?

Styled scene images for mirror and home goods photography fall under our Growth package, from $35 per image — including props and styling, professional retouching, and unlimited revisions. White-background main images start from $12 per image (Essential package), and complete A+ Content packages start from $80 per SKU (Premium).

What is the standard turnaround time for a bathroom mirror photography shoot?

Our standard turnaround is 5–7 business days from shoot confirmation to final file delivery. Timelines can shift slightly based on custom set build requirements, total SKU count, and complexity of retouching for highly reflective surfaces, with rush turnaround available for tight launch deadlines.

Do you offer Amazon-compliant white-background main images as an add-on?

Yes. Pure white-background shots for Amazon main image slots start from $12 per image under our Essential package. All final files are delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB, which exceeds Amazon's 1000px minimum requirement for the zoom feature, and include a full commercial license.

How do you keep the camera and lights out of mirror reflections?

We position large soft light sources at 45-degree angles to the mirror surface, use black flags to block direct light throw toward glass, and angle the camera slightly off perpendicular to bounce reflections away from the lens. We also deliberately style every element that appears in the reflection, and check each shot tethered at 100% zoom to catch stray gear or crew before wrapping a setup.

Can you shoot large or fragile wall-mounted mirrors?

Yes. We mount all wall mirrors directly to our reinforced set walls with secure, weight-rated rigging to avoid damage during shooting, and we keep lighting, camera position, and color grading locked across every SKU in a collection to ensure a unified look even when shooting multiple sizes and shapes over a full shoot day.

Can you keep multiple mirror designs consistent in one collection shoot?

Yes. The set, prop placement and light position stay locked across every design, with only mount height and pendant lamp spacing adjusted for each mirror's dimensions, and one master neutral-cool grade is applied across the whole collection, so all six frames read as one coordinated line.

What file specifications do you deliver?

Final files are delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB in both JPEG and WebP, which exceeds Amazon's 1000px minimum for the zoom feature, and every image includes a full commercial license for all sales and marketing channels.
