The client sells solid color sateen bedding sets to home textile buyers and commissioned AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to photograph the line for its e-commerce listings. Each set pairs a duvet cover with matching pillowcases in one saturated solid: burgundy, deep teal, taupe, charcoal gray, and navy. We delivered 5 styled images from our Guangzhou studio, all built on one bedroom set with a charcoal gradient wall, a gold side table, a copper lamp, and a lavender-and-books floor vignette, swapping only the bedding between colorways under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges
1. Sateen sheen turns cheap under hard light. The fabric's luster is the product's whole premium story, but direct light flattens it into glare. The set is lit with one large soft source at a low angle so the duvet carries a long, slow highlight that reads as silk, not plastic.
2. Saturated color on a dark set. Burgundy and navy against a charcoal wall meter close to black. Exposure rides a third of a stop up on the bedding, and the wall holds its own darker value, so the colorway reads first and the set stays moody.
3. Five colorways, one consistent frame. The colorway swap happens on a locked camera and a locked set: same table position, same lamp angle, same lavender pot. Bedding is the only variable, so the 5 frames sit side by side in a listing gallery without a visible seam.
4. Wrinkles are styling, not accidents. A sateen duvet pressed flat looks like cardboard. The bed is dressed, then worked by hand: the duvet gets a folded border at the top, the pillows get a lived-in plump, and the fall of fabric at the foot is arranged so the folds catch the light on purpose.
Our Approach
One Set, Five Colorways
The bedroom set is built once and locked: charcoal gradient wall, gold geometric side table, copper dome lamp, and the lavender-and-books vignette on the floor. Each colorway is dressed, steamed, and styled into the same frame, shot from a fixed position at 50mm. The props stay constant so the buyer's eye lands on the only thing that changes: the color of the bed.
Low-Key Lighting for Sheen
A single large softbox keys the bed from the front-left at a raking angle, producing the long highlight that sells sateen. A black flag on the camera-right side keeps the wall's gradient deep, and a small bounce card lifts the pillow shadows just enough to keep the fabric texture. Metallic props pick up warm accents against the cool fabric tones.
Post-Production and Retouching
All 5 frames grade to one moody master: white balance locked at 4800K, -20 highlight recovery on the sheen to keep fabric detail, and each colorway matched to its physical duvet cover within DeltaE 2. Lint and stray threads are cleaned at 200% zoom. Files were delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon image slots and A+ Content.
"Sateen is light with a memory. Give it one long soft highlight and it tells the buyer it is silk; give it ten small ones and it tells them it is plastic." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a 5-colorway bedding shoot cost?
This set prices at about $175 at the $35 per-image scene rate, one colorway per frame, styling included. White-background folded packshots for main-image slots start at $12 per image, and textile lines of 10 or more SKUs take 10% off.
How long does a 5-colorway set take?
This set was delivered in 5 business days. The bedroom set is dressed once and locked, so each colorway cycle is just dress, steam, style, and shoot; a full swap takes about 40 minutes.
Can a dark moody set work on Amazon?
These frames are built for secondary slots, A+ Content, and Storefront pages, delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB, above Amazon's 1000px zoom minimum. The main image needs the folded set on pure white, which we add at $12 per image per colorway.
How do you keep 5 colorways consistent in one gallery?
The camera, set, and light recipe stay locked; only the bedding changes. In retouching every colorway is matched to its physical duvet cover within DeltaE 2, so the burgundy in the gallery is the burgundy in the package.
How do you photograph sateen without plastic-looking glare?
One large soft source at a low raking angle, so the duvet carries a single long highlight instead of many small ones. Highlight recovery in post keeps the sheen inside the fabric's texture instead of clipping it white.
Can you shoot bedding with models in the scene?
Yes. Lifestyle frames with a model reading on the bed or a morning-coffee tray setup can be added to the same set at the $45 per-image model rate, produced in the same session as the colorway frames.
