The client sells Hewolf dome tents to camping and outdoor buyers and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot the line for its online listings. The tents come in 3 colorways, orange, slate blue-gray, and cyan-gray, all in the same crossed-pole dome design with mesh doors and guy lines. We shot 4 clean white-background images in our Guangzhou studio: one hero per colorway plus a second angle with the door open, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. A tent is a room, not a product. A pitched tent is big enough to walk into, so normal product lighting falls apart: the near side burns while the far side goes dark. We lit the whole sweep with one huge soft source and filled from both sides, so the orange fly reads the same brightness from edge to edge.

2. Fabric has to look taut, not tired. A loosely pitched tent photographs as a saggy bag. Each tent was pitched to spec, guy lines tensioned, and door panels tied back neatly, because buyers read build quality from how the fabric holds its shape.

3. The door sells the inside. Most tent photos show a sealed shell, which tells the buyer nothing about space. The door-open frame peels the panel back to show the mesh inner and the dark floor, so shoppers can mentally climb in.

4. Three colorways, one identity. Orange, slate, and cyan must look like siblings in the gallery. Camera position, light recipe, and tent placement stay locked while the colorways swap, so a shopper flipping between them compares color, not photography.

Our Approach

White Sweep Packshots

Each tent is pitched on our white sweep and shot from a front three-quarter angle at a fixed position. The frame includes the full dome with its guy lines out, so buyers see the real footprint. A soft contact shadow under the floor keeps the tent grounded instead of floating.

Colorway Rotation

With the camera and lights locked, the 3 colorways rotate through the same frame: orange for energy, slate for calm, cyan for the family look. The door-open angle adds the fourth frame, shot on the slate version, where the tie-backs and mesh door show how the tent ventilates.

Retouching

All 4 frames go to pure white backgrounds with fabric colors matched to the physical tents: the orange stays punchy, the slate stays cool. Creases from shipping are steamed out before shooting, and what remains is cleaned at 200% zoom. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon main-image slots.

"A tent photo should make you hear the rain fly. If the fabric looks taut and the door invites you in, the camper is already packing." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 4-image tent set cost?

This set came to about $48 at $12 per white-background image. Styled campsite scenes with gear and models can be added at $45 per image, and 10 or more items get 10% off.

How fast can you deliver?

These 4 were delivered in 3 business days. Big products take space more than time: our studio has a full-size pitch area, so tents go from bag to shot the same day.

Are these ready for Amazon's main image?

Yes. Product alone on pure white, no props, no text, at 2000x2000px, above the 1000px zoom minimum. This set was built exactly for the main-image slot.

How do you light something as big as a tent evenly?

With one huge soft source and side fills. Small lights make the near side hot and the far side dead; a big source wraps the whole dome so every panel reads the same brightness.

Can you show the inside of the tent?

Yes. The door-open frame in this set shows the mesh inner and floor. If you want full interior shots looking out, or a capacity shot with sleeping pads inside, we can add those at the $35 scene rate.

Can you shoot the tent in a real campsite scene?

Yes. We build campsite scenes in-studio with grass, fire pits, and gear props, shot at the $45 model-and-scene rate if you want people in frame. Many clients pair white packshots with one or two scene frames.
