The client markets craft drinks and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot a cocktail series for menus and campaigns. The drinks run from layered blue coolers to a rose-infused carafe and a pink champagne flute. We shot 7 images in our Guangzhou studio's bar set: each drink backlit so the liquid glows, garnished with mint, citrus wheels, orchids, and petals, against warm bokeh lights, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. A drink dies in minutes. Ice melts, condensation slides, garnishes wilt. We built each drink 2 steps from the camera with the frame already locked, and shot within the first minutes, so the frost and the layers are at their peak.

2. Blue liquid must glow, not glow neon. Backlight too hard and the drink turns radioactive. We balanced the backlight with a soft front fill, so the blue reads luminous and fresh while the mint and ice keep their own color.

3. Bokeh is the venue. The warm light dots behind each glass tell the buyer where this drink lives: an evening bar. We shot wide open against the studio's light string, so the background melts into mood while the glass stays razor sharp.

4. Garnish is the signature. A lemon wheel hooked on the rim, an orchid on the ice, a rose inside the carafe: each garnish is placed to catch the backlight, because in a thumbnail, the garnish is what separates one blue drink from the next.

Our Approach

Layered Blues

The blue series works the glow: a mint cooler in a tumbler, a highball with an orchid, a stemmed coupe with lime, each backlit so the layers read from base to rim, with condensation proving the drink is cold.

The Signature Frames

The rose carafe slows the series down: a whole rose suspended in a slender bottle, pink syrup settling at the base. The pink flute closes it: strawberry, lemon wheel, cherry, and a flower sprig clipped to the rim, glowing against the shelf bokeh.

Retouching

All 7 frames keep the evening honest: liquid colors matched to the real drinks, condensation and ice left natural, bokeh kept round and warm, and the glass edges crisp. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for menus, campaigns, and A+ Content.

"A drink photo should make you thirsty. Backlight the glass, keep the frost real, and let the bokeh say it is 9pm." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 7-image beverage set like this cost?

This set came to about $245 at $35 per styled image, bar set, drinks, and garnishes included. Plain white-background bottle shots can be added at $12 each, and 10 or more items get 10% off.

How long does the shoot take?

These 7 images were delivered in 5 business days. Drink work is front-loaded: recipes and garnishes are prepped before the camera turns, because ice and frost only stay perfect for minutes.

Can these go on menus and social campaigns?

Yes. The 2000x2000px files print sharp at menu size and crop clean for social. The series covers both dark moody frames and brighter frames, so one shoot serves menu, poster, and feed.

How do you make the drink glow?

Backlight through the liquid, balanced with a soft front fill. The drink reads luminous without going neon, and the mint and ice keep their own color.

Can you shoot our actual menu drinks?

Yes. Send the recipes and we rebuild them in studio, matching the glass, garnish, and layering to your bar's spec, so the photo is the drink customers receive.

Can you add bottle shots to the series?

Yes. Bottles and cans shoot on white or on the same bar set, at $12 for packshots and $35 for styled frames, matching this series' light so the campaign holds together.
