Cocktail Beverage Photography

The client sells barware and drink ingredients and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China for the campaign look: layered cocktails in its glasses, plus the signature ice-bucket scene. We shot 8 images in our Guangzhou studio on the dark beverage set: the faceted ice bucket holding a frosted bottle with tongs, and a parade of layered drinks in blues, pinks, and sunset oranges, each garnished with cherries, citrus, and mint, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Layers separate while you watch. Density-layered drinks start mixing the moment they are poured. We build each drink to order and shoot within 90 seconds of the pour, with the camera pre-focused and the lights pre-set: the gradient you see is the gradient that existed for one minute.

2. Condensation is a schedule, not an effect. Real frost on cold glass lasts about 4 minutes under studio lights. We chill the glasses and the bucket overnight, spray nothing, and shoot the cold truth while it lasts: fake condensation reads as hairspray, and buyers can tell.

3. Dark sets need one hero highlight. On a charcoal set with a blue backdrop, a clear glass disappears without discipline. We give each glass one long vertical highlight from a strip softbox and rim the ice from behind: the drink glows, the glass exists, the set stays dark.

4. Garnish is the color budget. Cherries, mint, and citrus carry the palette against the dark set. We style with fresh-cut fruit and whole sprigs, placed in the last 30 seconds before the shutter, because wilted mint reads as yesterday's drink.

Our Approach

The Bucket Scene

The hero frame buries the frosted bottle in crushed ice inside the faceted bucket, tongs hooked on the rim, a poured glass soft behind: the whole serving ritual in one frame, with condensation doing the storytelling.

The Layered Series

Each glass gets its own color story: electric blue in the footed glass, pink in the highball, sunrise orange in the rocks glass, red in the mason jar, blue in the skull. Same dark set, same strip highlight, different garnishes: a menu page from one session.

Retouching

All 8 frames keep the drinks honest: layer gradients unmixed, frost real, glass highlights continuous, and the dark set clean. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon listings, menus, and A+ Content.
