The client sells handmade art glass tumblers with colored swirl bases (the BOSA collection) and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot the summer campaign: red-yellow, green, and amber pieces. We shot 8 images in our Guangzhou studio on the bright tabletop set: tumblers filled with ice and lemon, tilted frames that show the marbled bases, an overhead flat lay, and tray arrangements with gold spoons and dried botanicals, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. The swirl base is the handmade signature. Every marbled base is unique: that is the product. We light through the white tabletop from below-table level, so the red-yellow and green swirls glow from inside instead of sitting dark at the bottom of the glass.

2. Ice must look cold, not plastic. Real ice melts under lights; fake ice reads fake. We shoot with real ice in fast rotations, glasses pre-chilled, so the cubes keep their frost cracks and the lemon stays glossy: 6 minutes per setup, then swap.

3. Clear glass needs edges before props. A transparent tumbler on white is drawn by its outline. We backlight the set and flag the sides, so the rim and walls carry bright edge lines before a single lemon enters the frame.

4. Tilted glasses sell the base. Standing, the swirl hides under the drink. We lay glasses on their sides and upside down, so the marbled base faces the camera: the frame that proves 'handmade' without a word of copy.

Our Approach

The Iced Frames

The hero frames fill the tumblers with real ice and lemon wheels, backlit so the contents glow: summer in a glass, with the swirl base visible through the drink.

Tilt and Base Frames

Side-lying and inverted frames put the marbled bases square to camera; the overhead looks straight down into the concentric swirl. This is the handmade evidence.

Tray and Flat-Lay Frames

The wood-tray arrangement adds a cocktail fork and halved lemon; the flat lay rings the glass with citrus and dried botanicals. Lifestyle context, kept botanical and gold.

Retouching

All 8 frames keep the glass honest: swirl colors matched to the physical pieces under D50, ice crisp without halos, and backdrop whites at 245-252. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon listings and A+ Content.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an 8-image set like this cost?

This set came to about $280 at $35 per styled image, the tabletop set and props included. Plain white-background shots for main listing slots start at $12 each, and 10 or more items get 10% off.

How long does the shoot take?

These 8 images were delivered in 5 business days. Iced frames run in 6-minute rotations with pre-chilled glasses; the tilt and tray frames follow on the same set.

Can styled scenes go on Amazon?

Yes, in the secondary slots, A+ Content, and your brand store, delivered at 2000x2000px. Main images must be the glass alone on pure white, which we add at $12 per piece.

How do you make the swirl base glow?

By lighting through the white tabletop from below-table level. The marbled colors glow from inside instead of sitting dark at the bottom of the glass.

How do you keep ice looking real?

With real ice and fast rotations. Glasses are pre-chilled, each setup shoots within 6 minutes, then we swap: frost cracks and glossy lemon survive, and nothing reads as plastic.

Can you add more colors later?

Yes. The tabletop set stays in the studio, so new pieces join the campaign in the same light, at the standard $12 or $35 per-image rates.
