This project was shot in AIMI's Guangzhou jewelry studio for a fashion jewelry brand exporting to North American and European e-commerce markets. The brief required three distinct image types: a clean white-background hero shot for category listings, a macro detail frame to show link texture and clasp quality, and a lifestyle image on dark volcanic rock to position the piece as a premium men's accessory. We delivered high-resolution WebP files with full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

  • Polished gold surfaces reflect the studio and camera, creating distracting highlights that need controlled diffusion.
  • Textured and smooth links alternate in the same chain; lighting must reveal both finishes without overexposing one.
  • Bracelets need to be shaped into a perfect circle while keeping every link visible and natural.
  • The dark volcanic rock lifestyle shot requires balancing bright metal against a matte black surface without losing shadow detail.

Our Approach

White Background Product Shots

We used a light tent with two softboxes above and a white bounce card below. The bracelet was arranged in a centered circle and held with museum wax on the underside. This produced a soft shadow and even illumination across textured oval links and polished H-shaped connectors. We shot at f/11 for full depth of field.

Lifestyle Scene Shots

For the men's accessory market, we placed the chain on rough black volcanic rock with a slate base. A single large softbox from the upper left created crisp specular highlights on the polished links while the rock absorbed light. A small reflector lifted shadow detail in the deepest crevices.

Post-Production and Retouching

We removed support wax, dust, and fingerprints, then balanced the warm gold tones between shots. The macro frame was sharpened for link texture; the lifestyle frame was graded for contrast while keeping the metal color accurate. Deliverables: 2000×2000px WebP, sRGB.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does gold chain jewelry photography cost in China?

A: A 3-image gold chain jewelry set starts at ¥1,200–¥1,800 ($165–$250 USD). Larger collections with model shots or 360° spin are quoted separately.

Q: How long does a jewelry photography project take?

A: A standard 3–5 image jewelry shoot takes 2 business days, including retouching. Rush 24-hour delivery is available for an additional 30%.

Q: Are the images compliant with Amazon and Shopify requirements?

A: Yes. We deliver 2000×2000px or larger sRGB JPEG/WebP, pure white backgrounds, and at least 85% fill ratio for Amazon listings. Shopify images are optimized for web loading.

Q: What makes gold chain jewelry difficult to photograph?

A: Polished gold acts like a mirror. Without controlled lighting, reflections of the studio, camera, and photographer appear directly on the product. We use light tents and polarizing filters to control this.

Q: Do you shoot macro detail shots for clasps and link textures?

A: Yes. We use a 100mm macro lens at f/11–f/16 with focus stacking when needed. Clasp detail, engraving, and link texture are captured at 1:1 magnification.

Q: Can you shoot lifestyle images on props like stone, wood, or fabric?

A: Yes. We style jewelry on volcanic rock, marble, leather, velvet, and branded surfaces. Props are selected to match the target market — for example, rugged stone for men's chains.
