Silver is the hardest family color: every SKU is a mirror with a different shape, and the set only reads as one family when each metallic finish keeps its own character, pearl, gunmetal, chrome, frosted, without drifting into the others. This session was a study in reflection control across six very different packages.

Photography Challenges

1. Six silvers, six reflection recipes. Pearl satin, gunmetal matte, mirror chrome, frosted coating and clear acrylic all live in this family. Each finish needs a different card environment, and mixing them up is how silver turns grey or blown.

2. Chrome caps that show everything. The mirror lids reflect the studio in fisheye. The vertical strip reflections had to be placed deliberately so the chrome reads as designed hardware, not as a selfie of the lighting rig.

3. A gift tray with eight SKUs. The book-style set nests eight products in a molded tray. Every item must read individually at listing zoom while the whole tray reads as one considered presentation.

Our Approach

Per-SKU card maps

Each bottle got its own card arrangement: soft vertical strips for chrome, large even cards for pearl satin, controlled contrast for gunmetal. The bench stayed locked; only the reflection environment changed.

Strip discipline on chrome

The mirror caps were given exactly two softbox strips, one each side, so the chrome carries clean architectural highlights that describe the cylinder instead of a map of the room.

Tray hierarchy lighting

The gift set was lit to favor the hero cream jar first, with the seven cartons falling into soft supporting light, so the eye lands where the brand wants it and then tours the set.

"Silver packaging is bought on finish quality. If the chrome looks cheap in the photo, the buyer assumes the formula is cheap too. Reflection control is quality control." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you photograph chrome and mirror packaging?

Inside a designed card environment: the bottle reflects large white surfaces and thin dark strips that we place, not the studio. Chrome gets two clean vertical highlights; brushed finishes get soft cards. Each finish has its own recipe.

Can you shoot full gift sets with many items inside?

Yes. Multi-item trays are lit with a hierarchy: the hero product gets priority light, supporting items fall into soft fill, and we shoot detail crops of each SKU so the listing can show both the set and its contents.

Do metallic finishes need color matching?

Yes. Silver drift is real: pearl goes grey, chrome goes blue, gunmetal goes brown. We verify each finish against the physical product on set, frame by frame, so the family reads as designed.

A silver-coded line where finish is the quality signal?

Send the family. We will give every finish its own reflection recipe and deliver a set that reads as one brand in six different mirrors.
