The client markets Biostime infant and toddler formula and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot the packaging range for its online listings. The range runs from stage 1 to stage 3 across tins, cartons, and combo packs, in the brand's blue, white, and gold design system. We shot 8 images in our Guangzhou studio on white sweeps: single tins and cartons, small groups, and one full family lineup of 8 packages, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Packaging is the product. For formula, shoppers buy the box: stage number, format, and variant must read at thumbnail size. Every frame is lit flat and even so the printed design carries no shadows, and shot straight enough that text stays legible.

2. Gold foil under soft light. The gold lids and swooshes need sparkle, but hard light blows the white cartons. We kept one large soft key for the paperboard and added one small hard accent aimed only at the metal, so the gold glows without burning the whites.

3. A lineup must not lean. Eight packages standing in a row magnify every millimeter of lean. Each pack was squared to camera, checked against a level line on the tethered screen, and spaced so reflections on the glossy floor read as one mirror.

4. Blue consistency across formats. The brand blue shifts between tin coating and carton print. We matched every frame to the physical packages under one light temperature, so stage 1's carton blue and stage 3's tin blue read as one brand family.

Our Approach

Singles and Small Groups

The single frames give each hero SKU its own clean portrait: stage tins front-on, cartons at a three-quarter so front and side panels both read. The small group frames pair a tin with its cartons, the comparison shoppers make when choosing a format.

The Family Lineup

The final frame stands the whole range in a gentle arc on the gloss floor: tins, cartons, combo packs, and the maternal variant, color-coded blues, golds, orange, purple, and pink. One frame that says 'complete range' for brand stores and distributor decks.

Retouching

All 8 frames go to pure white with packaging colors matched to the physical products: blues consistent, golds warm, text edges crisp. Scuffs on tins and shelf wear on cartons are cleaned at 200% zoom. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon main-image slots and brand stores.

"Formula photography is trust photography. Clean whites, true colors, readable text: the photo has to look as careful as the product inside." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an 8-image packaging set like this cost?

This set came to about $96 at $12 per white-background image, from singles to the full lineup. Styled scenes with props can be added at $35 each, and 10 or more items get 10% off.

How long does the shoot take?

These 8 images were delivered in 5 business days. Packaging shoots are methodical: every pack is cleaned, squared, and checked on the tethered screen before the frame is taken.

Are these ready for Amazon main images?

Yes. Product alone on pure white, no props, no text overlays, at 2000x2000px, above the zoom minimum. This set was built exactly for main-image slots.

Can you keep the packaging text readable?

Yes. We light flat and even so the printed design carries no shadows, shoot straight-on or at a controlled three-quarter, and retouch for crisp text edges at full resolution.

Can you photograph a whole product range in one session?

Yes, that is exactly what the lineup frame does. We plan the arrangement in advance, level every package, and keep reflections consistent so the range reads as one family.

Can you add new SKUs to the lineup later?

Yes. The setup and spacing notes stay on file, so new stages or formats can be shot to match and composited into the lineup cleanly, at the standard $12 packshot rate.
