Chrome Basin Faucet Photography

The client sells a geometric chrome basin mixer and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China for the catalog set: the flat-spout, square-body design from its key angles. We shot 4 images in our Guangzhou studio on the gray gradient sweep: front three-quarter, spout-forward profile, body three-quarter, and side elevation, each finished with a reflection rebuild in retouching, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Flat chrome planes are unforgiving. A mirror-flat spout shows every light source as a shape. We light with 2 large softboxes flagged to strips, so the top plane carries one continuous highlight band and the vertical body carries a second, separated by a clean dark edge: the geometry draws itself in light.

2. The aerator is the detail buyers zoom for. The spout tip hides the mesh aerator underneath. We angle the profile frames low enough for the dark honeycomb to read, because the aerator is the feature reviewers mention and shoppers check.

3. Gray gradient, not white, for mirror chrome. On white, polished chrome loses its edges. The mid-gray gradient gives the metal something to reflect, so the silhouette reads from the reflections alone: the vignette corners hold the shape without a drawn outline.

4. Retouching is half the product. Fingerprints and micro-scratches are invisible on set and glaring at 200%. We rebuild the reflection bands in post: gradients smoothed, seams darkened, dust cloned out, so the chrome looks factory-fresh at full zoom.
