The client sells handmade hammered glass tumblers with colored swirl bases and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot them for online listings. We shot 6 images in our Guangzhou studio on the bright tabletop set: the signature blue-swirl glass filled with an iced lemon drink, an overhead frame with cut lemon, a tray arrangement with orange and gold spoon, a 3-glass color study, and the 7-piece collection lineup, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges
1. Clear glass is drawn with edges, not surfaces. A transparent tumbler on white has almost no surface to expose. We backlight it with a large soft source behind the set, so the rim and walls catch bright edge lines and the hammered texture sparkles: the glass reads because its outline and refractions read.
2. The swirl base is the signature. The colored glass pooled in the base is what buyers pay for. We light from below-table level through the white surface as well, so the cobalt and confetti swirls glow from inside instead of sitting as dark blobs at the bottom.
3. Window-light stripes need a gobo. The diagonal light bands across the backdrop come from a blinds gobo in front of the key light. They give the white scene architecture without props, and the stripes stay consistent across all 6 frames because the gobo never moves.
4. Citrus is the freshness budget. Lemon and orange read as 'cold drink' instantly. We cut them fresh on set and shoot within 20 minutes, because cut citrus dulls fast under lights, and dull fruit makes handmade glass look like old stock.
Our Approach
The Drink Frame
The hero frame fills the blue-swirl tumbler with ice and a pale drink, lemon wheel on the rim, backlit so the liquid glows: the frame that sells what the glass is for, not just what it is.
Overhead and Tray Frames
The overhead looks straight into the swirl, rippling like water; the tray frame adds orange, gold spoon, and dried botanicals for the styled-table story.
Trio and Lineup Frames
The 3-glass study plays yellow, orange, and blue rims against one another at staggered focus; the 7-piece lineup spreads the collection across the frame, 2 tipped on their sides to break the row. This is the frame that sells sets.
Retouching
All 6 frames keep the glass honest: edges bright without halos, swirl colors matched to the physical pieces under D50, and backdrop whites at 245-252. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon listings and A+ Content.
"Handmade glass sells on 3 things: the edge light that draws it, the swirl that signs it, and one frame that shows the whole family." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a 6-image set like this cost?
This set came to about $210 at $35 per styled image, the tabletop set and props included. Plain white-background shots for main listing slots start at $12 each, and 10 or more items get 10% off.
How long does the shoot take?
These 6 images were delivered in 5 business days. One tabletop set carries the session; the gobo stays fixed, so the light stripes match across every frame.
Can styled scenes go on Amazon?
Yes, in the secondary slots, A+ Content, and your brand store, delivered at 2000x2000px. Main images must be the glass alone on pure white, which we add at $12 per piece.
How do you photograph clear glass on white?
By backlighting it. A large soft source behind the set draws bright edge lines on the rim and walls, and the hammered texture sparkles: the glass reads because its outline reads.
How do you make the colored base glow?
By lighting through the white surface from below-table level. The swirls glow from inside instead of sitting as dark blobs at the bottom of the glass.
Can you add more pieces later?
Yes. The tabletop set and the gobo stay in the studio, so new glasses join the lineup in the same light, at the standard $12 or $35 per-image rates.
